I'll start by saying this great cover depicts this couple exactly. It was heartbreaking Spencer had her heart crushed by her soulmate Cooper. She moved away but has now returned home armed with three kids, all accidents, to different fathers.
Cooper has also returned home after divorcing his wife as he didnt want kids. So this is where the dilemma starts for both. It's very touching, emotional, seriously hot & damn funny. Add some meddling parents, kids & friends. All that's missing was the dog. Lol.
I will say Kyle aka Savage was so adorable & that kid cracked me up big time. Also all that innuendo too!
As boomerang is such an Aussie term I take it to mean they always come back, which is so true. Apart from the humour it was a very heartfelt read. A truly enjoyable second chance tale.
Despite this book having an overused subject and the amount of romance books similar to this, I can say this one is actually interesting enough to read from start to finish. The author has done an excellent job. You could read this book in one sitting. A great easy read, but I warn you to get ready for a woman who cries a lot. It is warranted most of the time though. And hopefully you’re into the humour as much as I was.
I was in a bit of a reading slump because all I was wanting to read is Four Day Fling by Emma Hart - which comes out in a few days - and all the books I was picking up simply weren't that book and so I usually ended up putting them down - so I asked in Emma's Facebook author group for some rom-com recommendations and the lovely Stacy Garcia recommended Bookerangers and I am so thankful, I haven't laughed this much while reading, or simply laughed this much, in a really long time and it was AMAZING I loved the entire story! I thought I wouldn't love it because I don't usually go for books with protagonists that much older than myself (I'm 21 and Spencer is 33) but I loved it, literally up there now with my favourite romances list! So thank you Stacy for the epic recommendation, I think it was exactly what I needed!
What a great story with relatable characters and situations that I'm sure many have been in. Loved Cooper and Spencer's relationship and enjoyed their banter. Can't wait to read more from Heather Orgeron.
Heather M. Orgeron's Boomerangers is incredible! Amazingly funny like I mean i literally couldn't stop laughing!! The story grabs at your heart from the very first line right to the end. Spencer and Cooper grew up together, Spencer is literally the girl next door and after breaking up at the end of high school and going their separate ways they find themselves back in their hometown 15 years later they both find the attraction hasn't fizzled but can they get past the pain of their past and the baggage of the present I found myself going through a whirlwind of emotions while reading this story. It is most definitely hilarious, sweet and fun loving, emotional with a whole load of hot sexiness!!! I found the characters really relatable and the story really relatable like i mean i could sooo picture this story playing out in real life!!! You won't regret reading this story Cant wait for more from Heather M. Orgeron
A laugh-out-loud-hilarious and heartfelt tale of two people getting the second chance that they had been waiting 15 years for. High school sweethearts Cooper and Spencer were the couple everyone wanted to be, they were perfect together, and should have gone to college madly in love, but instead they broke up.
Through an act of divine intervention, or maybe that was just their momma’s meddling both find themselves back in their hometown – Cooper is there to take over his father’s law practice and Spencer is there with her three boys, looking for a new job. From the very first meeting it was clear that they both still had feelings for the other, but being a 33-year-old single mom of three boys, means that life is no longer easy for Spencer, and picking up where they left off comes with some baggage.
Little Kyle stole the show for me - Ms Orgeron wrote him perfectly. She captured both the innocence and hilarity of little kid speak, and had me reading his scenes in his little baby voice. The relationship between him and Cooper was another highlight for me, that little boy took a liking to Cooper almost as quickly as his Momma did, and the feeling was very much mutual.
“My man here! My man here, Nana.”
Spencer was a character that I could relate to 100%, not because of any one thing in particular, but mainly because she was a Mom doing the best that she could. Was she always “the best”? Probably not, but you know what she loved those boys with her whole heart, and at the end of the day that’s all that really matters.
I felt almost every emotion possible while reading Boomerangers, I laughed, I cried, I swooned and I got angry. I went in thinking this would be a cute little rom com, but I got so much more. I got a well written story, with real and flawed characters that stole my heart one piece at a time.
Spencer LeBlanc is a sex therapist who isn't having a whole lotta luck in that department herself. She's a busy mother of 3 boys to two different dads, who sadly are both pretty useless. When Spencer and her bff Gina both lose their jobs when the practice they work for is forced to close it's doors Spencer finds herself moving back to her family home. Little does she know that her high school sweetheart and the boy that broke her heart, has also moved home.......right next door! When Cooper Hebert lays his eyes on Spencer again he realises that she's the one for him. Just one small problem (well 3 really), he tells Spencer he doesn't like kids.........oops. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the journey these two take to find their way back to each other, and I adored little Kyle! Savage indeed! My only issue was I'd have loved to learn more about the reasons behind the breakup from Coopers perspective. If he loved Spencer so much why did he do what he did? Aside from that this was at times funny, awkward and tear jerkingly good............and Kyle!
