3.5 stars due to Shane being such a ninny. A wimpy brainwashed hero causes Megan lots of heartache. This is the newer version with a different title, cover and a few more pages. My review relates to the old EC version but story is the pretty much same. Ms Dane keeps this series refreshing. In this book no evil villains carrying on, just a story of two mismatched wolves who are mated but can’t be together due to one being brainwashed as a child. Loved the humour at the beginning with the road trip from hell. Megan knows who and what she is and loves her job as enforcer for Cascadia. So when she finds her bond mate and he isn’t into being a wolf and all that that entails they really go through some hard times. I can sort of see why Shane behaved as he did due to his childhood. Didn’t make me like him any more though. His attitude towards Megan was poor and he didn’t respect her as he should have. I liked how the family rallied around Megan and gave her so much support. I just cannot get my head around Shane’s psychotic mother. She has lived and slept with her husband for 40 years and still acts like this. Absolute nutter and just a nasty person. I loved the ending with Shane and his dad having wolf time together. Sad but sweet too. I am rereading these books for the fourth time and reviewing them as I go.
