Let's start with pacing. There is none. 25% of the way in two hours have passed. That would be fine for an action heavy start, however all that has happened so far is an info dump, dinner and a texting session. No joke, that's it. 50% in and I now know for certain that good world building is a privilege and not a right. There is no world building aside from info dumps.
The love interest. Creepy in a word, posessively controlling, physically aggressive plus i'm not even sure what he looks like. The lack of pacing destroys any possible chemistry between the two leads. You know, besides the whole abusive thing he has going.
My recommendation, (obviously) is to skip this book. There are plenty of good Urban Fantasy Romance stories out there to read. Just not this one.
Could not put this book down The love story, the action within and the surrounding storylines were fantastic Heroine not fluffy or naive, or a damsel in distress, broody protective a bit of a jerk sometimes alpha male, what's not to like. Thoroughly enjoyed this book, and will immediately read whatever else of hers as the writing is so good. Only downside - it wasn't long enough!!
