I'm Forever Grateful for this Book
24 July 2017
This book came at a critical moment in my life, and for that, I’m forever grateful for its existence.
Reading The Art of Talking to Yourself took me on a journey into my mind, each page revealing more of me to myself. At times, it’s like unwrapping a beautiful gift, and at other times it was like staring into my own abyss while it stared intensely back at me.
If you read this book the way I believe the author intends, you may have to put it down after each chapter. The revelations about my deepest most unconscious thought patterns were nothing short of profound, and they required I take time to really digest them.
The true magic in The Art of Talking to Yourself comes from its ability to show each reader something unique. The book also manages to do this gracefully, without the clunky three-step exercises synonymous with self-help. In their place what you will find is a collection of insightful stories and carefully crafted metaphors that will inspire introspection, and lead you gently back to yourself.
If you’re tired of quick fixes that never seem to work, and you’re ready to take a good honest look in the mirror this book is for you. Simply put – It will show you to yourself, and perhaps more importantly, it will show you that the answers you seek lay within.
If you do read this book I encourage you to do it slowly and consciously. Put it down every chapter or so and let it work its magic. Let it show you to yourself at whatever pace is comfortable for you. Most importantly, cherish the journey it will take you on like an old photo album or a good glass of wine.
