I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters were interesting and engaging. The plot was complicated but handled well. I couldn't help comparing it to Agatha Christie - there is even a boofie cop! It was refreshing to read something set in a truly foreign culture. I'm wondering if there is a pattern in his books that makes it easy to pick the culprit, or whether he does in fact emulate Agatha Christie and make each.story a mystery. I guess there's only one way to find out. By the way I wasn't at all surprised when I read that the author translated Agatha Christie before he embarking on his own writing career.
If you enjoy any of the Scandinavian Noir style of stories this is for you. Brilliantly descriptive, you will almost shiver as you feel the cold. Loved the stories, loved the characterisation, one of the best books I have read recently.
