This is a great book. The authors' fundamental knowledge and ease with the details and substance of the topic shine through in each part of the book. There are some wonderful descriptions of the research that has been recently done in understanding the fundamentals of Meditation and proving it's measurable effect. Highly recommended.
Not a speed reader to the extent that I can write a review a few days after ordering what seems to be not an easy read. Anyway, unfortunately, I still haven't been able to work out how to actually read the book on line, from a computer, or even from a mobile phone. Need time, energy and a sharply focused mind to get anywhere in that sense. Cheers and all the best, C.
Like other reviewers the first part of the book seems to be a lot of self congratulatory back slapping that the authors were the first to investigate the science of meditation back in the day. This theme repeats through the book rather frequently together with name dropping the Dalai Lama. There is a bit of science but not nearly enough for anyone interested in the actual science. Other researchers are mentioned but there are no interviews with them about their work, thoughts, conclusions or speculations. Instead, it's all very third person or passive. I had high hopes for this book. It could have been awesome. But it isn't
