I absolutely loved this! The first book in the series (including the previous linked 'Stage Dive' series) from the man's perspective, and it was brilliantly written! I've read a lot of series that do alternating POVs so you get to see both sides, and having read this book from Eric's POV it was glaringly obvious that the author missed out by not doing this earlier. It's clear that she can write the male perspective and I'm hoping she does this more often or considers writing a dual POV romance in the future.
Eric and Jean's story was a fun, slow burn friends-to-lovers romance. Eric is immediately attracted to Jean but gets a shock when she stands up from the table she's sitting at and reveals her pregnant belly. Eric immediately back tracks and shows us to arrogant and thoughtless so-and-so we've seen in the previous books in this series. But as time goes by, they get chatting and a series of circumstances see Eric at the Hospital with Jean when she gives birth to Ada. The story progresses from there with Eric showing another side of himself, and leaving his old habits behind to be a friend to Jean and help her out.
I loved their chemistry and the banter between them. I got frustrated with Nell for being so negative towards Eric - seeing it from his POV it was no wonder he acted the way he did a lot of the time - if your friends and colleagues have no faith in you, how can you have faith in yourself?!
Brilliant series - highly recommend it and can't wait for more in this series and others by this author.
Yes! It is time for all things Eric. You may remember him as Joe's brother - you know, the one Joe pretended to be on his dating profile?
Well, now it is his story, and to me, Chaser is the best story in the series so far.
My heart hurts for Eric as everyone around him treats him like a no hoper, a man whore, leaving him feel useless. No one even pays attention that he isn't the way he was, that he has been changing.
Gah, I wanted to slap the lot of them with my Kindle - especially Nell who I have always kinda adored. But this book she is just a nasty b!tch to Eric for 95% of the book and I really disliked her.
I adore Jean the minute she walks into the bar. Yes she has her secrets, and her baby, and that's all she needs in her life. But Eric works his way into her life and her heart, she knows the man he is.
Oh my goodness, the cuteness overload with Eric and baby!
I really enjoyed Chaser. I loved getting back to the Dive Bar, to the guys and gals that run the place.
Ooooh and there may have been a visit from my favourite blonde drummer and his band!
I loved Eric chasing his HEA and proving to himself and everyone around him the man he really is.
Sweet, sexy, tender and loving with a few tears thrown in the mix, Chaser was one that I just couldn't stop reading.
Kylie has released another hit, although due to the length of time between releases it took a while to get back into the Dive Bar “groove”. Ionce I found it I couldn’t put down. Eric and everyone else knows it he’s out for himself and not much else but when Jean slides into town 7 months pregnant and Eric being Eric hits on her before seeing the baby bump and collecting a harsh warning from Nell about her new friend. Eric finds himself caring about Jean and then baby Ada before he knows it he’s head over heels for the girls. Lots of laughs in true Kylie Scott fashion
Beautiful story that is exceptionally well written. Loved how Eric grew & matured over the course of the book; & how Jean's & his relationship came together. I was left with a very big smile. Books 1-3 of the stage dive series are my very favourite by this author but i do love everything she writes. Very enjoyable.
Yet again Ms Scott has given us a story that is a wonderful blend of humor and romance that just works. I loved how Eric works to better himself and just falls in love with little Ada, while falling for her mum. I really wanted to slap Nell throughout the book - though at the end she was better.
I really enjoyed this one! Eric was an awesome character and I really like getting to know Jean as well. I read the first book in this series, somehow missed the second, but then read this one. I do need to go back and read book 2, but this is my fave out of books 1 and 3.
I pretty much adored Eric right from the start. I get that he’s a player, and I get that he’s not seen as dependable, and I probably need to read book 2 in order to understand that a bit more, but the inner thoughts from his side, particularly when Nell was laying into him, really made me feel for him. I honestly wanted to slap Nell upside the head so many times!
Eric was a natural with Ada and was just so fitting with Jean. They were so easy together. I love a good friends to lovers story, and this one is pretty much that, because they take so long getting to know each other and being friends, before they finally realise what everyone else can see, about how they feel about one another.
This just had a really natural feel to the development of both of their characters and their relationship as a whole. They were both great, and I really loved Eric. His inner dialogue had me giggling to myself at times.
We also get other loved characters back in this one which of course is always fab.
Overall a fantastic and fast read, and I need to go back and read book 2. And looking forward to more from this series!
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
Eric, bar owner, totally hot, good time guy, lady killer and a little selfish. He is also completely adorable. In spite of his experience with women and unreliability, Eric has an innocence and honesty about him that I couldn’t resist.
I fell in love with Eric right from the first chapter so when the people in his life are giving him a hard time and are putting him down I felt very protective of him. I was wondering when all these characters I previously loved become so mean. Nell in particular was horrible. It has been a long time since I hated a character as much was I hated her in this book. But maybe that is me being protective of Eric.
When heavily pregnant Jean moves in above Dive Bar and into Eric’s life, things start to change and is whole view of the world shifts when baby Ada arrives. I just loved watching Eric fall in love with Jean and Ada. I love the way he gives so much of himself to them, offering friendship to Jean when he wants more but doing his best to do the right thing. And his conversations with little Ada are just brilliant.
Funny, romantic, sexy and a bit angsty too, Chaser is fantastic. I think readers are going to go absolutely crazy over Eric. Never mind all these stories about single dads, the story of a man falling in love with a single mum and her new baby is so much better!
