A good read about an inspiring subject

I didn’t know that during WW2 Stalin elevated the status of women, particularly women flyers, and a women’s flying squadron was born. They had to fight against the usual gender bias and egotistical behaviour. They became the most successful bomber group by working harder, with more discipline, and smarter.
This fictionalised story of one flyer and her friends and family, tells of the hardships, dangers, daily struggles, small joys, and deep loves and losses. It is very readable, with realistic characters, dramatically-told events and emotional scenes.
Recommended as a really good book, educational and inspiring.
