The thorfire flashlight TG06S is a tube style flashlight with a Cree XP-G2 led emitter with a polished reflector. The body is standard aircraft-grade aluminium.
The thorfire TG06S can be powered by either lithium-ion 14500s or common AAs NiMH, alkaline. The highest output will be achieved using lithium-ion 14500 batteries.
I use rechargeable AA NiMH batteries, as with other AA batteries like alkaline most will, if not all brands, leak and damage the flashlight if you forget to remove the batteries when flat and left for too long.
Click the power switch, and high is activated. To advance to medium, low and moonlight give the switch a soft half press. For strobe it needs a double half-press from any mode, then another half-press returns it to the last mode it was in.
There is no mode memory. It defaults to high so that is where it will be when you switch the flashlight on.
The high capacity 2550mAh eneloop Pro battery fits the Thorfire TG06S flashlight just like the 1900mha eneloop, and other AA's.
I do not have any 14500 lithium-ion batteries to test in this flashlight at time of this review.
The spec sheet from thorfire says that this light will put out 500 lumens. With AA's only 150 lumens, so if you want a brighter light output the 14500 lithium-ion is the way to go. But remember the brighter the light means less run time.
I have many 18650 battery flashlights, but I find this little thorfire TG06S flashlight a gem of a light for my pocket or as a cap light for fishing or other outdoor activities.
I do find that the light is a little warm in the tint, but I am a cool white person. It is a personal choice for what colour tint you may like. Some like Neutral white and others like me like cool white.
I will return to the review after I receive some 14500 lithium-ion batteries. As with more power and output, the warm tint may grow on me.
