Loved Token and Harley! I’ve recently purchased Steele and set myself to reading Token first, so I didn’t miss out on anything and boy oh boy am I happy I read it:) Token is assigned by his boss to go and collect Harley, not realising why or asking any questions. Harley usually takes one week a year on the anniversary of her family to indulge in everything bad, when she wakes up and finds herself in a stranger’s hotel room.
A story of heartbreak, passion and learning life lessons but one which eventually comes full circle to make you realise you are alive and to live your life to the fullest:) Beautiful story and intrigued to find out what happens in Steele next.
Welcome back Kelly Gendron and what a way to come back to the book world with this fantastic read!!!!! We are introduced to 'Token' a spin off character from 3rd 'Breaking The Declan Brothers' series, he is the brother of Lurlene. Token is the epitome of an Alpha male, sexy, dominant and bad ass. But Token is also smart, wise and sweet aswell which is a great to read. He is tasked with finding Harley, beautiful but troubled girl who one week a year allows her darkness to consume her. Throughout the story, the undeniable and sinful attraction between Token and Harley is always in the undertones, but Token doesn't just want her body, he wants everything that Harley has to give, even her past. But Harley must decide whether she can open herself to her past or continue to do what she has always done, is Token enough to help her overcome her guilt and grief?? With a couple of unexpected twists towards the end, this couple that is linked in ways they could never conceived, will be tested not just with one another, but personally.
This book compelled me from the first chapter till the heart stopping ending, I was in awe of this book and couldn't put it down. It was heartbreakingly beautiful, sexy, intriguing and will hold you captivated. It was great seeing Lurlene and Zeke, but I cant wait to read more about these delicious and mysterious Kane brothers. It is a must read book and Kelly should be so proud of this work, she truly is crazy talented.
I became a fan of Kelly Gendron with the Declan brothers’ series so when I see the spinoff from this series on the Kane brothers I had to pick this up and am I glad that I did. We are first introduced to Token Kane as he is trying to save someone who is determined to end her life. The man who helped Token out after his ordeal on the bridge is the same man who helped Token fulfill his dream of being a boxer. That didn’t last for long as an incident in a bar scarred Token and he gave up on the promising career in boxing. Eventually he has come to terms with what happened and has moved forward in his life. Now he is employed by Bronx to do various “jobs” for him one of which is bringing Harley Redbourne back to him. Token has no idea what her relationship to Bronx is nor does he care…that is until he meets her. Harley has had a tough life and is struggling with her past. Then Token comes into her life and the two have a connection that neither of them understands. It’s a great romance story of one has come to terms with not letting the past define his future and the other is struggling with her past and doesn’t know how to live in her future.
As in her past books Ms. Gendron has a knack for pulling you in and keeping you on the edge of your seat for the entire book just waiting to see if her characters will make it through and if they do what is the cost to them personally. She sure knows how to throw in surprises along the way too! I definitely cannot wait to see what she has in store for the rest of the Kane brothers because she has already built a great basis for each of them. If you have not read the Declan brothers series I would definitely recommend them as well.
I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley for a freely given and honest review.
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
Sparks fly between Token and Harley from their very first meeting. Harley is drinking to forgot. 10 years ago her family died and every year on the anniversary she gets sloshed. Token is sent by his boss to collect Harley and bring her home to California.
I loved Token. He is tough, sexy, smart and very patient. He wants Harley but he sees that she is in pain and is not ready to let someone in. And Token is right. When we see Harley's point of view it is clear that she is hiding from the pain and from people and needs someone she can trust to love her. Token shares himself and his family with Harley to try to break down her walls.
There are a lot of things I loved about this story. Harley and Token's great chemistry which makes for plenty of heat; Token's brothers and family who are fun and a loving bunch; Token's strength and bravery to face the difficulties in his life were some of my highlight. I confess did struggle with Token calling Harley lass. Nothing wrong with the term lass but every time Token said it I could picture Billy Connolly in my head and hear his Scottish voice which was particularly off putting during the sexy scenes.
This is the first book in the Daring the Kane Brothers series and I was pulled in right from the start and when we got to the end, I wanted more. The next brother to get a book is Steele. Bring it on.
I want that feeling again. Like when I was ten years old at the circus, all the excitement and fear, the high wire act, the fire, and the lions. Forced to sit in my seat, keeping all the excitement bottled up inside as I watched the performance when all I really wanted was to be a part of it. I wanted to experience it firsthand. That’s how I feel right now.
I won’t settle for that, and you know it. To get me you’ll have to trust me, open-up and show me your ugly. You’ll have to let me in, babe. Let me see what hurts.
After our usual Tuesday afternoon rendezvous, when I got out of the shower, Jill was gone and so were all my clothes. She left me a nice little note with many colorful words and locked all my sh* up out in my car, including my f*ing keys. Luckily, she left me my cell. Dude, stop f*ing laughin’!
Kelly Gendron’s new series featuring the Kane brothers is off to an explosive start. This dynamic and foul-mouthed family of five brothers and one sister are a unique collection of quirkiness. Their family gatherings included fisticuffs, witty banter, and humorous bickering. I adored Token and find it difficult to believe any of his brothers could best him. Token was a thoughtful, insightful, and tenderhearted alpha whose boss had sent him on an errand to find and escort the troublesome Harley to her uncle. Harley was a hot mess and in the midst of a downward spiral of destructive, self-indulgence, and irresponsible behavior. Their immediate attraction was highly carnal but their karma wasn’t new as this wasn’t the first time their families had crossed paths.
The plot was clever and the storyline was full of feels and well paced while alternating between angst, erotic sensuality, and thoughtful insights. The Kane characters were enticing and intriguing, and I found Harley more likable during the last half of the book as she had initially presented as obnoxious and annoying. I am already curious about the rest of the clan.
