Just fantastic! I have just started reading this and I cannot stop. I worked all muscles on my face, from laughing out loud and on the same breath, frowning with sadness for him and then laughing again out loud. Kevin really has been through a lot and he brings this out in his stand up, but this book goes deep into those stories and he provides a different perspective in the hardships he faced. It really makes you think and oh boy oh boy oh boy does it make you laugh. NEVER, has a book made me laugh so much! Update: book finished in less than a week, i have NEVER finished a book fully!
Having read many autobiographies over the years this is definitely one of the very best. I laughed so loud in parts that I disturbed my partner sleeping at night or when she was reading herself. The honesty that Kevin has about his life is unbelievable and his insights into success should be heeded by all. Like all people who enjoy success, he recognises what the traps were and the values of failure. The role of key family members for many of us is overlooked but not by Mr Hart. He recognised that he the product of his upbringing and just as importantly takes responsibility for his own inactions from his youth. Fantastically funny with an excellent blue print at the end. Read this and enjoy!
I struggle with books. I usually get half way through them and then give up or forgot about them. Not this one. I’ve struggled to put this down. It’s incredibly funny and offers real insight into real problems everyone has or will have to deal with. I finished it in a week, first book I’ve finished in years and cannot recommend it enough.
Being a fan of Kevin Hart I was excited to read this book. Some parts were (to me) laugh out loud funny and some parts were sad. Overall I thought it was a good book and although I struggled to keep going in some parts I did eventually finish it and was glad I did. I liked how it was set out like life lessons and I also liked some of the “wisdom” he gave on certain topics. I thought his relentless quest to become a well known comic was inspiring and would definitely recommend this book to any fans or to those struggling to break into comedy themselves.
Really funny in places, but the real story of Kevins hard graft and sacrifices to get to where he is now, now that was the most compelling thing in his book and also how a lot of his success can be traced back to just his positive attitude on life
I love Kevin hart so it was an easy sale to start with but I was actually surprised by how honest and touching this book was. Kevin hart shares his humble beginnings and soul searching moments which is quite different to his public persona. He also really teaches his life lessons and has genuinely given me food for thoughts. All in all, a must read for Kevin hart fans or just if you need a bit of sunshine and hope sprinkled on your day.
Really hart warming stuff, great read about his entry into comedy. The best parts definitely came from Kev's reminiscing about his past, very interesting to see how he believes that his childhood experiences have made him the man he is today and how some of it bleeds into his comedy. Sounds ever so slightly unrealistic at times but I am sure Kevin Hart has more than one story that I would fail to comprehend despite being completely true. Would suggest to any fan or any fan of stand-up in general.
Not normally a book I would read however as a new fan of Kevin Hart I purchased and OMG I'm glad I did. It's very funny aswell as interesting and some parts relatable. You imagine every word to be in his voice. We forget that everybody starts somewhere and in most cases at the very bottom of the ladder, it's a great insite to how much this guy has achieved and valuable "Life lessons"
