I have been passionate about understanding myself (and others) and I have a lifelong interest in, and love anything that gives me insights into my own and other's behaviour. So, I have a pretty good idea of what makes an effective system, and the Four Tendencies is definitely that. I had heard Gretchen Rubin talk on the tendencies, I'd read articles and done the quiz - but it wasn't until I read the book that I realised I was an upholder, and OMG everything makes sense now. Easy to read and understand, awesome book for anybody who wants to understand themselves and their people better.
Fascinating topic. Sadly, sort of, I’m an Obliger. So many things rang true and it was great to get a better understanding of myself. I’ll need to reread it to get a better grasp on the other tendencies, but just a really interesting book.
Now I understand why some of my previous relationships failed. I definitely will work harder to communicate with people according to their tendency. I can see how my approach in the past has been counterproductive with people with other tendencies.
