Delayed Call is the 11th book in the Assassins series, and though I have missed a few along the way, this did not affect my enjoyment of this book at all.
I am a sucker for a hockey book. I love a romance book. I love an enemies to lovers book. Throw them all in together and you get Delayed Call.
This book was so much more than just a hockey story. Vaughn and Brie's story is fill with love and hate, lust , sexual tension out the wazoo (and in it too!!).
And it is filled with heart.
There is so much emotion in this story, can't remember how many times I had a tear in my eye as I was reading.
I loved Vaughn's cockiness - I mean, really, what rich, goodlooking, famous guy wouldn't strut? But more than that, I adore the man he is behind that facade. The man sure will surprise you!
Brie - that woman! I freaking love her. Her bite, her snark, and her big, big heart. I like to think that she and I would be great friends.
I loved the snippets of the Assassins from the previous books. They add fun and laughter to the story, as well as a good dose of reality. I swear, it makes me want to move to Nashville just so I can be friends with them all.
It's a hard choice, but I really think that Delayed Call has become my favourite Assassins novel.
Now I am impatient for what Ms Aleo brings us next.
Absolutely loved this book. This was the second book I've read from the Assassins Series and it read well as a standalone. I loved everything about this book, the plot and the characters. You can't go wrong when your main characters include gorgeous hockey players and a three legged dog.
I was first introduced to Vaughn and Brie in Assassins 10, where they are enemies. When 'Delayed Call' opens the still dispaise each other. As the Team's sports journalist it is Brie's job the interview the players following games, this often includes the cocky Vaughn and normally ends with them butting heads. Through her younger brother, Rodney, Brie has the opportunity to see Vaughn differently, not the arrogant sports legend.
From her there chemistry changes and they appear to be heading towards a relationship but Vaughn is scared to commit, can they move past his issues and make this work?
If you haven't read any of Toni Aleo's, Assassins Series, why not? I'm definitely going to read more.
