'Easy Magic' is the fifth book in the Boudreaux series by one of my favourite authors, Kristen Proby. Each can be read as a standalone - but I have to say there is something magical about 'Easy Magic' (pardon the pun). I have read the entire series and have loved each one for different reasons. They are all full of heart, great family, good wholesome fun, laughs, and sexiness but each of the personalities of the Boudreaux siblings and their stories are quite different.
The opening prologue is one where Mallory our leading lady (the essential oils shop owner) is saying good bye to her grandmother... it's clear her grandmother and her have a "special gift" but what that gift is... other than something psychic we don't learn until later in the book. That being said it is clear that Mallory is far from normal. She is clearly sweet, hard working, ethereal but there is something "special" indeed...
It takes the flooding of her shop and her buff, aloof yet incredibly handsome (and now very attentive) landlord to visit and help restore and clean what they can - to just calm her... a feeling she's never felt before.
Beau is focused on running the family business and overseeing his new home being built. But when Mallory comes knocking on his door, he can't avoid the sparks that fly. He doesn't know that much about her but he wants to know everything. He doesn't date thing but she is different. As Eli asks... “Are you sweet on her?” Beau responds.. “Are you sixty? Who says that anymore?” The fact is he feels different around her. A calmness. And with his world of chaos that's not easy. And soon he discovers, it's not easy getting to know Mallory.... “Well, don’t get me wrong, every woman wants to be told she’s pretty.” “I didn’t say pretty,” I reply and lean in, resting my elbows on her desk. “‘Pretty’ is too dull of a word to describe you.”
I felt for Mallory - she wants to live her life just like everyone else. But, she can't just turn off her gift. She has lived her life trying to close it off. I loved Mallory...she is independent, smart, beautiful, and sassy. And then there is Beau...oh Beau. He is one delicious and sweet package. Together, they are so much fun, sexy, and sweet. But, they also have unique circumstances to overcome.
There is an emotional pull that you will not be able to deny. 'Easy Magic' has so much passion, so much love, and so much heart, you can’t help but get caught up in it. Everything about this story was magical. 5 Stars.
I've read most of the Boudreaux Series and thought Beau's story (the billionaire Co CEO of Bayou Enterprises) would be a good one - being matched with his opposite, Mallory (the small time herbalist shop owner and his tenant). The title suggests the book has a supernatural theme, but there's a lot more to Mallory that you'll discover when you read this book. Kristen Proby uses a particular writing method in all her books, but the characters and plots are different enough to maintain interest. The characters in Easy Magic are well-defined. Mallory is gifted, but she limits her involvement in the paranormal world. She tends to be solitary person (except for a few trusted ones) as a shield, but Beau awakens her sensuality. Beau is the eldest of the Boudreaux siblings and the protector of his family. He's also conservative and hardworking, but very charming and passionate. He finds that to be in love with Mallory will require him to dig deep and find acceptance as well as being her stalwart hero. I knew I'd like Beau, but I also felt a lot of empathy for Mallory, too. The only negatives in the book, for me, were: The plot wasn't always tight, the climax lacked a little power and the ending was a tad abrupt. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to Ben and Van's story...should be a good one!
I am completely thrilled and so excited to receive now the fifth and most wonderful romance, Boudreaux. Such an endearing series set in the midst of New Orleans. Written by one of my all time favourite authors, Kristen Proby. Such was completely hooked to this such passionate and emotional book all focused on the gorgeous, Beau Boudreaux! This one looks just so unbelievably sweet!!
As we meet Mallory Adams. She was running late. Rushing so fast to meet up with her closest family. My Grandmother's oldest dearest friend, Miss Sophia was the kindest sweetest lady, so beautiful and so caring to me after. And she was always there for me after her death too. She was both there for myself an Lena.
She said she was only late for tea as she had just saw Charley Boudreaux at her store. They had been such good friends with their family too. Lena brought up Beau Boudreaux. Yet Mallory wasn't quite sure if she was even ready for that yet. And with her strong abilities she still wasn't even sure. And she never she wanted ever to even talk about it even to her closest friends. She wanted to keep Her witchy ways to herself.
As Mallory headed over to her own store she realised flooding had occurred. Scared not knowing what to do next she rang her business owner, Beau Boudreaux for help. Using her power to walk him up and finally get some help from him.
I absolutely loved this most wonderful romance. I have so thoroughly adored every book from this series and I really found this was the best one too!!
What an amazing story! When a leak floods Mallory shop, Beau, her landlord, comes to fix it. There is an immediate connection between the two and their relationship begins. Beau and Mallory are both strong characters and compliment each other perfectly. Beau is strong, protective of those he loves, and a problem solver. Mallory is a sweet, a bit reserved and gifted with clairvoyant abilities. The story just flowed, and was an easy read, full of emotion and a bit of mystery. Would definitely recommend this book, and the whole Boudreaux series. Can't wait for Van and Bens story.
The Boudreaux series is one of my favourite series to read and re read we meet the mysterious eldest sibling Beau this time around and he's just as swoon worthy as the rest of his brothers. We first met Mallory in book one as the hippie chick with the shop under the families loft apartment and since Beau has moved in while building his house he has an early morning visit from the beautiful women whose shop has turned into a swimming pool due to broken pipes and the rest is history. A cute story with some laughs and a little hocus pocus.
Easy Magic was a fantastic book. Mallory and Beau are so fun and perfect for each other, they balance each other out perfectly. I really loved the little paranormal twist to the story, had me on the edge of my seat. Kristen Proby writes the best books about love and family bonds. I love that no character is forgotten about after their story has been told and that we get to see how the other couples are doing, as well reading the lead up for the next couple!
Love love loved this book! I am a huge Kristen Proby fan and The Boudreaux series is my favourite of hers and this is my new favourite of the series! I love Beau, I love the paranormal aspect of this book and it was just a wonderful story that I could not put down!
