When a marathon runner, competing in a gruelling ultra marathon across the Gobi dessert in China is chosen by a little brown dog to be its partner for life, his faith in succeeding is tested. His hope of saving his new little friend & the charity of the Chinese people volunteering their help plus the charity of people worldwide who raised funds to make it possible to bring "Gobi home ", leaves me with admiration & gratitude. I want to cuddle that amazing little dog & hug her best friend.

Couldn't wait to read this story as I'd been following Gobi's ups and downs online since around the time of her race with Mr Leonard in the Gobi Desert! The book didn't disappoint as it includes quite a bit of behind the scenes information not divulged at the time. And Gobi and Dion's mutual story has so many twists and turns, whilst simultaneously throwing a light on other interesting characters and cultures that pop up along the way, that it was almost as delightful to read it again in book form as it was to follow it in regular and social media over the past year and more. The book is nicely written and would be very accessable, I think, to the average Aussie reader, not just those who have a particular interest in running or dogs or what it's like for a westerner in China these days - but certainy for those special groups too.

A good story but a bit frustrating as the author creates stress over his constant doubts. He wa s inclined to dwell on the negative as he saw the worst scenarios. I could almost feel him sweating as he thought about might happen. He needs a lesson in faith and positive thinking. I like happy everlasting stories but it took a bit too long getting there.

Thoroughly enjoyable read. Such a heartwarming story. When I had finished I wanted to read more so searched on internet and found lots more videos and articles about Gobi and his new home.

This is an amazing story of one man's determination & journey to bring this incredible little dog home from China to the UK, in itself an ultra marathon. But the incredible strength & determination to compete in, & complete, these ultra marathon desert races is also truly unforgettable. This life changing reltionship between dog & man is beautifully related. Tissues required!!

I started it and really liked it then got a bit 'over' all the people trying to exhaust themselves to 'death' on the marathons...then the story twisted a bit and I got into it again. Remarkable story but a bit too 'puffed/drawn out'....smaller book would have done it....

Amazing story , makes you realise there is still some good in this world , although some of it reads a fictional babble of men in black cars and dark sunglasses , almost ready to leave it at that point but was intreagued as what become of Cobi

I heard about Gobi thru Instagram and had a yen to read about his travels & tribulations. Getting the book from Amazon was a no brainer & I read it in one sitting. I loved his story & the tenacity, love & devation of his owner was inspiring. What a huge heart they both have.
