Better than you'd expect.

Considering its price and its size, I wasn't expecting a lot, but this unit really surprised me. It sounds better my Sony speakers costing $40 more and occupying ten times the size. It's a solid little thing with some heft and weight to it and a a good rubbery base, so it can max out its volume without vibrating terribly on its surface. I've had no problems keeping it connected to my phone while walking around the house, and no problems pairing it to different devices. Using it as a power bank to charge other devices is a nice bonus feature that's worked well. A carrying case is available as a separate purchase, but the unit feels sturdy enough that I'd be comfortable putting it in a backpack without one.
There are only two catches I'd note. The first is that the battery life listed is assuming a very quiet volume. At medium volume, you're looking at closer to 6 hours on a charge. The second is that the unit isn't waterproof while you have a cable connected, whether it's a power cable or an aux cable, because you have to open a sealed panel to access the ports. I wouldn't really expect it to be, but it is something to know if you're planning on using this with an aux cord a lot.
There's about 250ms of lag, which seems about average for Bluetooth audio and doesn't exist with the aux cable.
If you buy this, know that there's a firmware update available on Anker's website. They haven't explained what it changes, but it's good to know.
