Usually Joseph Joseph sell quality goods, but this is an exception. Feels really cheap and made of cheap plastic. Worse thing is that it doesn't work well at all. When opening any can the metal clamp scraps against the can and makes it very difficult trying to turn. Cleaning it is also very difficult given there is gaps and holes where water can get trapped in. Avoid this can opener!
June 2019: I’ve now had this can opener for less than a year and it has completely broken! It just completely mangled a tin and got stuck firm to it. Eventually my husband had to use a screwdriver to prize it off of the can. Now I have a broken cam opener and a ruined can!
July 2018: I seem to go through an extortionate amount of peelers and can openers. The peelers usually end up being thrown out with the green waste. Can openers don’t get thrown out accidentally but I seem to break them or just always buy incredibly dodgy ones that don’t work! This can opener is a pleasure to use. It’s easy to attach to the can, smooth turning, so it doesn’t feel like I’ve had a round at the gym, and the lid comes off super easily by the press of the button. I agree with some other reviews that the can is sharp once the kid has been removed but did you expect anything less? Of course it would be sharp! As with all Joseph Joseph products is great to use and in extremely happy with the purchase.
Bought this a few months ago and wanted to use a bit before writing a review. Not cheap, thought would bere good as Joseph Joseph but it's difficult to attach to the can to open and the ring pull is almost impossible to work, ended up using my finger for stiff cans. Have now ordered a different one.
Had high hopes, but this promptly came to pieces after a couple weeks normal usage. Surprised by Joseph Joseph’s poor level of customer service, to the point that in the end I happily threw it in the bin.
I have a number of Joseph Joseph kitchen utensils and most are excellent however I would advise you give this a miss as it doesn't stand the test of time. I have had it for 7 months and the grip and release mechanism has broken already.
My advise would be to buy a cheap old fashion one which cost a couple of pounds then replace that every 6-12 months as it is far cheaper than this.
