Deeply researched and brilliantly written
11 April 2017
This is a deeply researched and brilliantly written account of a murder that occurred in Texas in 1980. The victim, a respectable, middle-class woman was found brutally hacked to death in her home. The authors' account of the investigation, arrest and subsequent trial is masterful story-telling. They take you deeply into the characters of the main players in this terrible tragedy and deeply into the crime itself, convincingly describing what really happened and why. A key to their success in the rich characterisations is the access they were granted by the accused and the husband of the victim as well as other important figures. This is a very fine example of the best kind of true crime book.
