I love Sam Mariano's story-telling. She pushes the boundaries of what is acceptable and manages to craft a story that defies societal norms.
Unfortunately, the cheating in this story left a bitter after taste in my mouth. I'm not one of those readers who is adverse to reading books that contain cheating, in fact, I tend them more interesting because you run the whole gamut of emotions with the "victim". The circumstances here were completely off putting. I didn't find it sexy, I didn't root for the main characters, I didn't revel in the joy of their relationship.
I just felt icky. I wasn't expecting perfection or characters that were more digestible. It would have been nice though if they showed some remorse, I mean, their actions broke up a young family and the after affects were devastating.
This is a book that will have you reeling from an emotional overload. You will feel everything from disgust, horror, despair, confusion and anger to name a few. It is a well written story with beautifully flawed characters who are just trying to make it to the next day after an event that will change both their lives.
