Can't Find A Better Man!
Reviewed in the United States on 1 November 2016
BETTER LOVE written by the always impressive Daisy Prescott, is a book that is refreshing, rewarding and oh so romantic!
Daniel Ashland is a deep man, who truly enjoys a pure, simple life surrounded by the beautiful nature of Whidbey Island, Sal's, one of the island's small pizza shops that he proudly owns, many friends and the relief he claimed when he left the corporate world behind. Dan also left behind Roslyn Porter, a big wig in Seattle and a PR genius. Dan and Ros had big potential as a power couple, but Roslyn was not willing to give up her dreams of success in the big city, not even for Dan. When Dan moved back to Whidbey and Roslyn stayed in Seattle, two misunderstood hearts were left to fend for themselves, as life marched on.
Years later, Roslyn was brought back into Dan's life to help Erik Kelso, a Wingman we got to know in Prescott's book ANYTHING BUT LOVE, smooth out some negative publicity that was affecting him surrounding a stunt he pulled. Thrown back together in hilarious circumstances, Dan and Ros are reminded(at moments stubbornly) that the connection that began in a corporate setting was much stronger, sweeter and sexier than they remembered. The chemistry between the two was almost combustible, as Dan vowed to court Ros and win back her heart.
As the story progresses, Dan and Ros act like teenagers all over again, making out in cars, playing jokes on each other, getting to know each other all over again, first on a lighter level, and then much more deeply. Dan's soulful spirit reaches Roslyn's heart much more powerfully than she anticipated it would, catching her off guard, but eventually softening her to his charms. Slow Dancing to a specifically requested song at a wedding might do that to a girl!
BETTER LOVE has it all. A second chance at happily ever after. A 40-something man realizing what he has, and also what he's missing and going for it in the most profound way. A 30-something woman scared of change, but even more afraid of never losing herself to true love. This story features familiar friends who live on Whidbey Island or come back to visit, friends who make a difference in your life, and in turn, appreciate your friendship. This story also features many of the wonderful Whidbey places Daisy Prescott has written about often in her books, and are characters on their own merit, (I need to get to The Dog House Tavern one day,) and love. So Much Love.
BETTER LOVE is wise, humorous, thoughtful, fun, smart, frought with meaning and now, one of my favorite books of all time. Congratulations, Daisy Prescott! BETTER LOVE is BEAUTIFUL.
