Ok, so I'm going to be a total girl here and say that the best thing about this entire book was, hot silver fox, Dan. Yes, the plot and writing style were amazing, I mean this is a Daisy Prescott book after all, and all the secondary characters were funny and engaging. But Dan!!!! Oh My God, Dan!!!!!!
Listen to this; he's a millionaire but doesn't live like one, totally humble, down to earth guy. He rides a skateboard everywhere. Hot body, gorgeous face, funny, sweet, sexy and... he owns a pizza restaurant. What else can we ask for in a fictional boyfriend???
If I loved Daisy Prescott before, I love her even more now for creating such an enchanting character, that is definitely going to the top of my list for favorite male character in a book. And just so everyone is clear, I'm calling dibs on Dan.
Dan Ashland used to live the fast life of Corporate America. Smart and very successful he had it all. All the money he could want and the love of a great woman, who was equally career driven as he was, but Dan was absolutely miserable. One day he woke up and decided that he simply had had enough, so he quit his job, sold his properties and broke the heart of the only woman he had ever love and left, never to look back. He escaped his life and promised to never speak to Roslyn again.
Dan traded his fast paced life for solitude, total privacy, and a pizza restaurant in Whidbey Island, and he has lived a content life there for the past five years. When one of his friends finds himself in some trouble and needs a public relations specialist, Dan decides to break his promise and calls the one that got away, Roslyn Porter, for help.
Roslyn is smart, independent and beautiful. Ever since Dan walked away from her, breaking her heart, she's promise not to ever date a client or fall for a guy ever again. But the moment she sees Dan again, her body's reaction to the silver fox is hard to control, the man has gotten even better looking with time.
Since Roslyn's client is Dan's friend, she has to constantly visit Whidbey Island and interact with Dan, and the more they see each other, the more those buried feelings start to come to life. Dan has changed and with time he has realized that there will never be another woman for him other than Roslyn, but if he thought she was going to make things easy for him and simply fall for his charms, he has another thing coming.
Can these two forget about the past, and learn from their past mistakes to have a better future together? Or will their romance take a back seat again to their careers and different area codes?
Read this wonderful standalone story, and join Dan and Roslyn as they try to give love another chance...
