Wow! What a book! I have been waiting for Cade's story for awhile, he features in Callie Hart's Dead Man's Ink series, however Vice can be read as a standalone. Cade has always intrigued me and finally we get to discover more about him and what happened to his sister Laura.
Cade is VP of a motorcycle club, however he hasn't always been on the wrong side of the law. He is an ex military man who, along with his friend Jamie, created the club as a front to search for his abducted sister. His search leads him to Ecuador, and a secretive skin and drug trader. He meets Natalia and the search for his sister and escape becomes more complicated.
This book has it all for me. An interesting and unpredictable story, a dominant alpha male, and a heroine that has some spunk. I recommend reading to all those who enjoy stories with strong adult themes. The sex and violence is very descriptive, and not for the feint of heart. In saying that, the author didn't rely on this for wow factor. The story held me to the end.
I look forward to reading more about Cade and other characters from the Dead Man's Ink/ Blood & Roses world.
I really enjoyed Vice. I struggled to put it down which is why i'm writing this review in the wee hours of the morning. I just had to know what happened with Cade and Natalia.
I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 because i didn't enjoy it as much as Zeth and Sloane's story. Don't get me wrong, it was still really good just not quite Zeth Mayfair good! I also found it to be a bit too gory. There were moments i skimmed over just for self preservation sake. Definitely not for the faint hearted. Personal preferences aside though, it was really well written and developed and Cade and Natalia were great characters. Plato was very intriguing aswell. I'd be keen to hear more of his story.
Cade Preston sets off on a strong lead to find his missing sister. After finding himself in Ecuador, here he is faced with much more than he bargained for. Being faced with the atrocities created by the hands of a madman, Cade keeps focused on the prize at the end of it all.
I loved reading Cade's story and just how focused he was at finding his sister. His determination and family loyality is the driving force that kept him going.
Thanks Callie for another fantastic read and how you are keeping the Dead Man Inks/ Blood and Roses series going. This is up there with a few others of my all time favourites.
This is a standalone book that is a spin off from the Dead Mans Ink series. You don't need to read the other books, but the series is so good that it is well worth meeting the Widow Makers MC and get to know the boys in the club. Cade is the Vice President of the club, he and Rebel, his best friend and the president of the Widow Makers has been looking for Cade's sister Laura for the last seven years with no luck whatsoever. They have searched high and low for her with no results - Laura has been taken against her will - that much they know, but Cade always holds out hope that she is still alive. When he gets a really good tip off he sets off on his own and makes it his mission to find out all he can, but he is literally stepping into the wolves den as he goes up against Fernando Villalobos who is part of the cartel in Equador and one of the most evil, despicable men I have ever read. This book contains some terrible violence that will turn your blood cold and has more twists and turns than the yellow brick road. There he meets Fernando's daughter Natalia who he is instantly attracted to, but he knows how dangerous a liaison with her could be if they are found out. Cade is seriously walking on dangerous ground !!! I love all of Callie Harts books, read them all and she never fails to delight me with her writing and her amazing stories and this book just got added to that list. Characters are brilliant as always, well written if not a little over the top in places but by then I was so engrossed I didn't care. Another hit for Callie, brilliant as always !!!
I've always enjoyed reading about the Widow Makers MC but my love for Jamie but especially Cade was elevated to a whole new level with this one. We go back to the start when their lives changed for ever and we see the motivation for everything they do. I can't say too much about the storyline without giving anything away but it's dark and violent, at times gut wrenchingly so. You will see the lengths Cade will go to and what he has to endure In pursuit of finding Laura. We meet Natalia, she is a strong woman who has seen more pain and suffering than is imaginable she is living a life that is full of horror and pain. Cade has always been loyal to the club but how far will he go to achieve his aim? Who will be left standing when it's over?
Callie Hart knows how to deliver, how to shock and how to keep you reading. There is always so much more to the story line than the blurb suggests and straight away she shocks you with it. I can't wait to read more.
Cade is a man on a mission and nothing will get in his way. But does he get more than he bargained for? The whole way through, you'll wonder who lives, who dies and can you find true love in the midst of hell? Loved this book from beginning to end!
