Purchased and installed EAP225 on a gamble as had same features as more expensive competitors like Ubiquiti UAP range. I've mounted up and cabled to middle of the house and easily provides coverage throughout. Can walk out the street and still have great signal.
Setup for a single AP just using WPA2 without controller was simple, find the IP assigned and just connect via web browser, couple of "next next next" steps and ready to go. The unit also supports TP Link's controller software Omada which I am keen to have a play with down the track, always good for nerds to have these things to play with at home!
Performance is great, no drop outs and much better than replaced very old unit that constantly needed rebooting and just had poor coverage. Got the "wife tick of approval".
Looks great mounted on ceiling. Mounting was simple as.
TP Link is making some nice gear. This one is great for a semi-pro home network, and apparently it will mesh with a another unit, can't wait to try that. As it stands, I connected it to my pfSense router and have great wifi within a reasonable range even though I currently have it lying down in a poor location. It comes with a POE injector, so out of the box you get POE, meaning it is very easy to place. Set up was fast and easy, the instructions are clear; you can do it via browser or phone app. I did setup from a linux laptop; the app connects to do but all that setup requires you do to (in simple mode) is name two SSIDs and provide passwords. Then you're off to the races. Every wifi device has connected. It's fast. Honestly with hardware like this and a good router, a home network can be secure and fast for little effort. I see that I have an old TP-LINK switch running fine after ten years. I think once it was a bit of a cheap brand, but this product is nicely packaged, nicely documented and nicely supported hardware and gives a feeling of confidence. I look forward to getting another one to cover a distant corner of the house.
I have always had pretty average WiFi/Internet speed upstairs in my home. This was mostly due to the fact that I had a powerline adapter connecting to the two floors, and a Wireless N AP hanging off of that. I finally got Cat6 running between the floors and knew I needed to upgrade the existing AP to see any considerable benefit so I went for this AP. I was tossing up between this and the Ubiquiti which was slightly pricier. Read some good reviews for this AP and decided to get it. Pleasantly surprised. Works very well, setup was super simple and now my devices can also roam between AP's having the same SSID. Still early days but impressed so far. Shipping was very quick too which was even better!
