This is a blend of SF and fantasy in the style of the late Roger Zalazny, but not done nearly as well. We start with the heroine dying of a new viral infection in a world where "supernaturals" exist but are segregated. Instead of dying, she is turned by "Merlin the magician" into a supernatural, but a rare, powerful syren/snake entity. In fact all the "Super Dupers" as she calls them, come from fantasy or Greek mythology. The author tries to enter humor into the interactions, but it just does not work. I struggled to even finish this story and will certainly not be buying the sequel/s. I am not sure who the target audience is, but it seems more teenage than adult.
