I was on holidays with my mother in Alaska when by chance my mother had met Lizbeth and her daughters (whilst looking for salmon berries as you do when you are in Alaska). This was a few years prior to the book being written.Friendships were stuck up rather quickly between us and Lizbeth and her daughters. They are just fantastic people to meet and get to know but after reading this book its given me a whole new understanding of them. It's one of two books that I have ever read in one sitting without putting it down (I was on the plane from LA to Melb) and I was so engrossed, captivated and compelled to keep reading it none stop. Reading it you feel like you are going along for the journey and just as you thought things would pan out for the good- BAM a huge hurdle or road block is in the way. This is very frequent throughout the book. It just goes to show the character of Lizbeth. It really is a spectacular read and I could easily see this story being turned into a Movie one day! Well done on a great book Lizbeth
This book reads more like a thriller than a memoir, and I had to keep reminding myself that the kidnapping really did happen to two little girls, and that the rescue was executed by a brave and determined mother. The author tells a gripping tale, sharing her darkest fears and deadliest thoughts.
