When it comes to your business or you as your own brand, perception is everything to how the world views and perceived you. What I really like about this book is that it seems to have only skimmed on surface of the matter. I’m sure that there are psychological aspects regarding this topic, which would make for interesting discussions.
Although I've been in business for myself for many years, I haven't known how to harness the power of perception to help me achieve success. I've actually been told at times I'm the best kept secret in my field (video production).
But by reading 'Perception' it's got me to focus on what I need to do to stand out in the marketplace. I love the psychology of how to identify and then to master my customers and prospects perception of me and my business.
This is particularly critical as I'm about to start a new direction with my business so that I can create a clear, authentic message and brand strategy that shows who I am and most importantly what I stand for. And the book has me looking at how l perceive myself as well.
Simple, easy to follow. Even my hubby, who never reads, read this book in one day and took so much away from it. "Perception" delivers messages in a clear manner. I started implementing a couple of things immediately. And when I was talking with my girlfriend, listening to her lament about her workplace, I was able to recommend to her this book, as her exact situation is clearly outlined in one of the stories. There was definitely a number of lightbulb moments. I will continue to recommend this book to all my colleagues, team members, family and friends. I have even recommended it on our on-line book club. A great book for business, whether you are an employee, business owner, consultant, service provider etc.
"You are doing a disfavor to the world if you have a great product or service but no one knows about it."
As a seller of a service I always have had problems with putting myself out there for fear of looking "too salesy" or fake. This quote out of "Perception" along with the 11 steps on building a positive perception of your brand, products and services has totally changed the way I think about marketing myself and my services. Christo and Franziska show that you can still be your authentic awesome self (in fact they insist on it) while influencing others perception of others and making YOU and your brand THE product/service they should be buying. The book is told in story book form so you can easily see how their steps can be applied in 3 different types of situations and show that you can have the success you deserve by being uniquely you and appealing to the people that "get you".
As a hypnotherapist and Mind Coach, I was straight away drawn by the title Perception. Being 'the product' myself, reading this book made me realise how I needed to become very clear first on how I wanted to be perceived in the market. Perception is about giving the reader the tools it needs to take action and change how others perceive you. It is very clear to me now, that it is not enough to be very good at what you do, you have to become irresistible, make your products irresistible and do it with passion. This book has set me on the path to changing the view on how others perceive me and my business and made me want to become irresistible!!
Franziska and Christo make the reading of this book fun and I love how they incorporate stories that keep you engaged!
Such a great read about positioning yourself as a small business owner, shining a light on how important it is for the market to perceive as the best in your market. Its great to be the most talented, most experienced, or highly educated in what you do, but if your market doesn't know it, know you, or perceive you to be then you've got some work to do!
Loved the chapter on changing their perception changes your reality as a business! Great if you're looking to break into the market with a highly specialised or valuable set of skills, service, or product and want to learn the importance of building your reputation and awareness in the market as an expert.
A really easy-to-read, entertaining yet profound book on getting you or your business (or both) noticed in a world filled with competing messages. This will be a big help small business owners and entrepreneurs, as well as people looking for career advancement.
Christo and Franziska have written a book that gets to the heart of getting noticed (the right way) by managing and even controlling how others perceive you. I've read around half the book, and my mind is buzzing with ideas for how to improve how the market sees me and my business.
Received the soft copy of Perception and I could not stop reading! All makes sense now that while I was concentrating on doing all my work right, saving the company money, I was leaving the "people-person" bit behind. I was seen as not really approachable and therefore missed out on a few promotions. This book has totally put that into perspective, and certainly something that I have been working on since I started self-employment.
Somehow these authors take the subject of marketing to a new level of fun, creativity and also transparency. By focusing on perception they encourage us to really identify the core drivers behind our business and to bring to them to the forefront. Not surprisingly this crosses from business to every day life too and Perception becomes a great read for the emotionally intelligent marketer. Highly recommend!
I am just setting up my own business and know nothing about marketing. I am only part way through Perception and my eyes have been opened and my mind a little blown. The marketing fog is starting to clear and I am not seeing it as such a scary task anymore. I recently purchases Bananas about Marketing and am looking forward to getting into it also.
