I really enjoyed this book. Not everyone likes stories that jump back and forth in time and I will admit sometimes I got to the end of a chapter knowing the next chapter would be about the other timeline and thought “no, stay with these guys”, but it was so well written and had suck flow that it was a pleasure to read. I love that time period (racism and sexism aside!) and it was a different perspective for me, not having read much about the lives of Jewish people of that era in Britain. It wasn’t overly sentimental or cheesy, but still left you satisfied at the end.
