I'm from Glasgow too
18 September 2017
I was born in Glasgow in 1953.
Maybe some people lived like this but not my family. My mother was widowed at 41 and had nine children..no one had cardboard in their shoes or roamed the streets at 4 years old ,was freezing or starving. We were not rich but we were looked after. My mother didn't have an easy life but there was always clean clothes and food.
When Jimmys family came to Australia they still couldn't take the opportunity on offer to them.
I too came to Australia when I was 20 years old and had 3 small children by the time I was 26.
I don't like the way Jimmy portrayed Glasgow ( he was 4 when he left..how would he remember?) and not everyone was a violent drunk, I do know people like this exist but not only in Glasgow..all over the world.
I'm a big fan of Jimmy Barnes ..love his music and have saw him live a few times.
Just a bit disappointed on his view of Glasgow..it wasn't Glasgow but his parents that were to blame for his upbringing. I'm sorry his early life was so sad.
