Some authors are predictable. You know you're going to get a good book if they have written it. Debra Salonen is one of those authors. Her stories are warm, welcoming and filled with real people coping with real problems. Her settings are thoughtfully depicted and her plots are believable. Black Hills Bachelor, book four in the Black Hills Rendezvous series, is just such a book. Written in Debra Salonen's trademark warm, inviting style, this is a story of second chances both for Sentinal Pass mine owner and single father Mac McGannon and Hollywood starlet Morgana Carlyle aka Morgan James. It stands alone comfortably though you'll have got to know the other characters if you've read the first three books in the series, andy why wouldn't you when they're all great reads. No points for guessing I enjoyed this story. I whizzed through it and can't wait for the next book in the series, Black Hills Outcast.
This was a very emotional story. Mac is a single father in a small town, and Morgana is a star filming a show. They seem like two very different people. But deep down, they are more alike than they realize. I loved all of the characters. Especially Mac's daughter, Megan. She is so sweet and innocent. I really liked how both Mac and Morgana would consider Megan and her feelings throughout the whole story. There is some deep emotional turmoil as the truth about Morgana is revealed. I would also like to add that everything involving Libby and Mac's grandmother was handled beautifully as well.
