I've read the other 'Beautifully...' books and so far, I think this is the best in the series. It's a light read, but completely engaging. Avery's dream is to be a pastry chef at Trace Montgomery's restaurant, Clover. When she gets the job, Trace lines up her accommodation at his friend Rafe's renovated carriage house. She is strongly attracted to Rafe, but he's with someone else and has a few serious issues. She also has to remind herself that she's just Rafe's tenant. However, Rafe can't help but have the hots for her - she's gorgeous, funny, bubbly and very sexy. Chemistry plus! He also sees her as a person of depth, a young woman who is not at all calculating and she's 100% natural. However, touble is brewing in Rafe's life, the past returns to haunt him and circumstances become deadly. The two main characters are very likable and well developed. Avery is so sweet and she's a cute dag. Handsome Rafe countered her kookiness by being very male, a bit serious and a tad conservative. It was nice to connect with past characters, too. Fiore's writing was very good as was the pacing. The plot was well-thought-out with plenty of humour to balance the serious themes. The imagery L A created was sensational, but GAH! I hate books featuring food...too much of a temptation and there are recipes at the end of the book...disastrous 😯 for my hips! Beautifully Decadent could be read as a standalone, but I think it'd be better appreciated if books 1 and 2 were read first. I recommend the book to those who enjoy Fiore's books or who like a good romance/mystery/humerous narrative. PS I wonder if Alcide, another orphan from the past, will be next in the series.
I enjoyed the first book. The second was abit all over the place, but this one just fit so well with the whole series. Honestly without the first 2 books the 3rd would have fell flat. I was amazed by the knowledge the author had of both cookery and crafting wood... well done. Gorgeous series!
This book was so yummy. The food, the boys, what a delicious read. I was really into the first half, 5 stars. It lost a bit of momentum for me towards the end. What should have been an intense ending, lacked a bit of punch. Don't let this deter you though. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Goofy, Exciting and Fantastic!!!! Rafe and Avery are both very realistic characters, in which you want to get to know right from the beginning !! With spots that make you laugh out loud, to serious parts, and to exciting suspenseful parts, this is a book that flows perfectly and flawlessly. It's a story that grabbed me right from the beginning and I did not put it down until I finished. I had butterflies reading , anxiety for the characters in certain situations. I experienced highs and lows, and omg i need to get to the next page asap moments. Well done L.A. Fiore. This is a 5 star read and I cannot wait what you have up your sleeves next!!!!!
