Good easy to carry thrower flashlight (sample provided thanks Thorfire)
7 January 2018
Good sized small thrower- I'm in a built up area but it goes at least 200 meters - I like the LED used as well (CREE XM-L2) as the hot spot is a little bigger then a XPL - hi.
Pretty good ergonomics - the cut out in the tail cap and the size makes it comfortable to use and it's small enough to fit in my work pants.
Good for using at work (I'm a conductor on a night train and using it on moonlight works pretty good so I don't wake people up or trip or someones legs) and walking home at 4 am the low mode is good for not tripping on things. Would be great for when the train breaks down to have a pocket spotlight (yes it breaks down rarely).
Good modes (High/Mid/Low/Moonlight) with hidden strobe (double click to access) that might come in handy at work if I get assaulted by someone. Testing it out by shining in my own eyes it is a pretty distracting and really not recommended.
It would work well as a bike light (haven't tried it yet but will soon) and I imagine would work as a hunting light (bring spare batteries if you do using it on high all the time)
I'm using it with 18650 protected batteries which are longer then unprotected ones and they fit just fine (2 x CR123A work as well but I didn't try them).
I have the Convoy C8 as well (probably better throw and warmer tint) and I prefer the Thorfire (larger hot spot so you can see more at night)with its simple mode choices and I much prefer it's tail cap.
Tint is a cool white
Lumen levels aren't mentioned in the manual but are apparently .05, 30, 280 and 900 lumen's. Moonlight mode on mine seems a little brighter in is probably closer to 3 lumen's.
Run times?? No idea not mentioned in the manual.
Seems waterproof and still works after sitting in my sink.
Threads fairly dry when received and need lubrication and the light can be locked out by unscrewing the tail cap a little for storage.
A little big for an EDC light maybe but small enough to cart around in a bag (or if you have bigger pockets)
As mentioned in the title sample provided by Thorfire for review - I'd still like it even if I paid full price
