We pick up the story several years later and while Evie has been able to move on and find happiness, Owen has not been able to move past his grief. He starts to question his past choices as Severn turns into the monster that everyone believes him to be. He must make some tough choices and use all his wiles to save the kingdom and the people he loves. All seems lost on more than one occasion, and he is overwhelmed with grief at the loss of friends. War is inevitable with Severn unwillingly to believe him . Owen’s heart is finally healed when he finds love where he least expects it and unity is restored to the kingdom. From the first page to the last it was hard to put down, with so many dramas unfolding!
Amazing trilogy! I thought book one and two were good but the third book is just awesome!! I held my breath at the end to see what Owen's decision would be and I couldn't be happier he made the right one (or should I say the one I wanted him to make)....bring on book number four!!
As you read this series, and you do need to read them in the right order, they are getting more intriguing. It is a book about countries, Kings and magic, but with an interesting twist. As it is refreshingly free of bad language and such it is suitable for tweens and up but it is still an adult's novel. Well worth reading.
Fast paced prose, kept the attention easily. Owen the central hero has more escapes than Houdini! Pleased that he moved on from the heartbreak of his first love & didn't accept the last temptation when offered. Thought the King's final surrender was a little meek considering his psychotic nature. Left a little dubious on that point. Otherwise finely written. Wheeler is one of my favoured fantasy authors.
I've thoroughly enjoyed reading the king fountain series. How Owen has grown through his trails and tribulations as first an 8yr old boy taken from his family to head of the espion and beyond. It is such an easy and enjoyable book to read. Which at one point had me in tears due to the bond you develop for the characters thanks to the authors ability to captivate the reader. Thanks Jeff I look forward to the forth book
Really enjoyable, have always been a big fan of a great fantasy series - think JRR Tolkien, and a David Eddings. Great story telling, with always that hint that you have read this before. Looking forward to more by Jeff Wheeler
