Amazon.com.au:Customer reviews: Spanish: Learn Spanish with Stories for Beginners (+ audio): 10 Easy Spanish Short Stories with English Glossaries throughout the text I (Learn Spanish with Audio Book 1)
I got this book and audio as it was recommend to me by a family friend as a way for me to practice my Spanish listening and reading. Even though I am still considered a beginner I found that the voice over guy was done at a really good speed and I found it easy to keep up with him. The length of the stories where about 10 minutes which was really convenient to read a story in my free time (specially on the train to work) compared to some of the longer stories that I have come across. I found it very helpful with listening to real sentences and not just the super slow ones we do in class. I recommended this to a few of my friends and they have all found it very helpful. I would like to see the next addition have the quiz in Spanish audio as well.
I first saw this book when I was searching online for Spanish books. I’ve always wanted to learn but I never got around to actually studying it. I started out before with the basics such as how to use the el and la, but when everything is spoken like how a native speaker would talk, that’s where the tough part starts. When I saw that the book is for beginners, I thought to myself that maybe I should give it a shot and I am so happy I did! It really was for beginners! I actually understood what the stories were about even though I only know the basics plus the fact that the stories themselves are relatable. The audio is very helpful too as you can really follow what he was saying. The only downside for me is, since I’m using my phone and wanted to read and listen at the same time, I wish that the link to each audio is on the first page of each story itself, instead of all the links being on the last page of the book. Overall, I absolutely recommend this book to people who would like to further their Spanish, my understanding of the language totally improved.
I just moved from Philippines to live in Australia with my husband and I never thought I will study the basic Spanish speaking which why I came across this book. Most of my neighbors are Spanish native people. As a newbie neighbor, I wanted to be friend with them, talk them in their language so I decided to look for a book that easy for me to learn their language. Its not that I envy them, its just that why not add language skills for myself. As Filipino with Spanish heritage, it is a great way to build or expand my limited knowledge of Spanish language which ruled us for over 400 years age. Most of Filipino words are rooted from Spanish language which why this learning gets exciting. I choose this great book because it has come with audio which a better way for me to learn basic speaking Spanish in a fast and easy way, which what I'm looking for. With the help of audio I know it will give a boost my listening skills and practice my pronunciation as well. I make sure it has to be with audio so that when learning it would be great help to grasp the learning in the process for me.
Also, the best part of this book is that it has embedded Spanish to English dictionary at the end of every stories. Wow! I use to look the dictionary to translate words that I don't understand, for this book you don't need a dictionary, isn't it amazing. So very happy to find this wonderful book. This book is very user friendly. I do very much appreciated this book.
I recommend this beautiful book for beginners like me in learning Spanish language in a fun and entertaining way. I just hope there will be part two of this book that comes with body gesture or body language in conversation and again with audio or maybe with video perhaps.
I've recently decided to take up learning Spanish in my spare time and have been searching around for the different options of learning. As well as using some online learning courses, I wanted something simple.
I know the basics of Spanish, but was looking for something to start with from the ground up, then came across this book. I wanted something to learn at my own pace, my house mates speak Spanish so fast and it's impossible to follow, so it is refreshing to have something to refer to and ready at my own speed. It's also really convenient having the English words written next to the story, it saves so much time rather than having to look elsewhere.
The story's themselves were pretty random, they are a good size, short and snappy which keep things interesting. The content included has a lot of variety, so I started to learn words which you wouldn't normally use in everyday life, such as abogado for lawyer and seguridad for conviction. It's all pretty new to me.
I'm far from fluent, but this book has definitely got me going in the right direction. If you're pretty new to Spanish and need something to read on the way to work or when relaxing at home, I would recommend.
After deciding to take a job in El Salvador teaching computer skills at a local school, I thought that I had better brush up on my Spanish. I first attempted to learn the language years ago after a holiday to Barcelona, but with limited time only managed to grasp the basics. I really like the format of the book, it is very well laid out. There are about 10 stories, all roughly about 10 minutes each, it’s a good length as you can digest small amounts at one time and not become totally overwhelmed, the stories are all different which gives you a nice variety of vocabulary and grammar. Since purchasing this book my Spanish is improving daily and I’m feeling much more confident about standing in front of a class to teach.
I decided to buy this book because I was interested in trying a new way to grasp the Spanish language. I have taken courses in Spanish and downloaded apps to try to learn the language but have often gotten bored or given up. This book took a new approach and used stories that grasped your attention. I loved that I didn't have to flip to the back of the book when I didn't know a word as well because they put vocabulary words throughout the text. The quizzes and audio helped a lot as well. This is perfect for someone who has only basic knowledge of the Spanish language. I highly recommend this book.
I have only been learning Spanish for a semester and really enjoyed learning through stories. You learn phrases and words you don’t learn in classes, but that you would use in general conversations. I enjoyed the definitions following the story so when there were new or unfamiliar words you didn’t have to get your dictionary to define them. The audio has helped understand the pronunciation and language patterns. It is clear, feels natural and easy to follow. I think people would enjoy this book if they want to improve their Spanish but don’t want to study formal textbooks. It’s learning without feeling the grind of studying.
Working in a multicultural job spurred on my decision to start browsing for books to help me learn new languages. This book caught my eye - Spanish would be a great start as I have very minimal knowledge of Spanish and a few of my clients have Spanish backgrounds!! I enjoyed the simplified stories as a way to learn - stories about everyday life, making it easy to connect the language to feeling. I also really enjoyed listening to the audio part as that helped me ensure my sounds were coming out correctly. Maybe include a picture here and there? Mostly because I like to see the story as well.
