Garber's story and plot is fun, fresh and engaging.
Garber needs to do some work on the finesse of her prose. Excessively long sentences, irrelevant description and minor but annoying jumps or inconcistencies throughout the story (e.g. a big deal is made of the character only being able to wear boots then she's wearing slippers the next second - this kind of thing annoys me). It was choppy and wobbly. This made the book frustrating and irritating to read at times. I often found myself having to reread whole pages because my brain drifted with over-worked description and weird jumps.
There is a general immaturity to the construction of this work that mars enjoyment. I really want to like the book, and I do on a level, but it annoyed as much as pleased.
That said, I look forward to reading future works and seeing if there's an evolution and refinement of style.
