I have been following L.A Casey since I stumbled across Alec last year when looking for something new to read. I loved the style of writing I found in that book and have been stalking her ever since waiting for my next Slater Brother fix!! ([...])
Ryder was exceptional! Obviously, because I finished it in one day! I was just as curious as the next person as to what was going on with Ryder, because I had my assumptions. Boy was I wrong! I can't say I saw that twist coming at all. The story draws you in so that you got emotional when Branna does, you feel her anger and then get to celebrate her happiness as well. I hate to admit, but even I got teary at times. You really did feel for her. There were definitely times when you wanted to kill Ryder, but at the end of the day he is everything you expect.
I love how both Ryder and Branna have become the parental figures for their families, and I have looked forward to learning more about them.
The only thing I am disappointed in, is that I read this awesome story too quickly and now I have to wait for the next instalment. - Well recommended!! :)
Another amazing story from this fantastic series!!!
I loved Ryder there was so much going on and so much resolved.
Ryder being the oldest really does have the weight of the world on his shoulders. Putting his happiness second is what breaks him.
Branna is brilliant and incredibly selfless.
Their connection is instant and explosive. I loved how we got to see there story come alive through a series of past recollections.
As a couple they really do rule the roost and show they are the original couple that they all aspire to become.
All up I loved it there was so much emotion and so much change. I loved all the brothers and their other halves and getting bits of their stories as well. I cannot wait until Branna gets her novellete and the final brother Damiens story to be told!!!!
The Slater Brothers story continues with the eldest brother, Ryder and his fiancé, Branna (Bronagh's sister). Time has moved on and sadly their relationship has slipped into fights, misunderstandings and pain. For Branna, it's become an empty void that is affecting her emotional health. Ryder is aloof and mysteriously disappears for hours on end. A 'parent' for her younger sister, over many years, Branna put her life on hold and made many sacrifices. Finally, she holds a position of responsibility in the maternity ward of the local hospital. She's been engaged for years with no marriage proposal or babies in her foreseeable future, sadly. It was good to reconnect with the feisty, loyal and temperamental sisters again. Ryder's background was different from Branna's, but he too was a substitute parent to his brothers. It was also good to reconnect with the all the boys and check on their progress. I didn't give the book 5 stars because I felt the first half busied itself with setting up the tension between Ryder and Branna and this interfered with my connection with the characters. They hadn't been focal characters in the series up until now, so I knew it was essential to relate to them...and I did, but it took time. This part of the book also spent time re-addressing all the links to the previous stories. These factors can be a challenge for me because when a series has long gaps between books, I lose the threads. As I read a lot of literature for work and leisure, lengthy waits prove difficult for me to retain interest. What I liked about Ryder: the retrospective chapters from 1 to 5 years ago. These helped put the puzzle together as well as helping me feel close to the characters. In addition, the second half of the book flowed, so I was able to focus, without continually trying to join the dots. Eventually, I was swept into the plot and fell in love with Ryder and Branna. A great climax followed, answers were provided, threads tied and the next book was nicely set up.
Ryder wasn't what I was expecting but it did not disappoint. I loved how Branna strong mama personality shone through. There where times when I think Ryder need a good head smack to realize just how much he was sabotaging his own relationship. But I loved the new addition to the Slater Brothers series. LA Casey characters are always larger than life. As well as plenty of laughs. As always your left with wanting more. More Slaters and more of the strong fiesty Irish women who tame them. Always a treat, enjoyable and a hot read.
II don't know how L A Casey does it? The humour is fun and makes you laugh out loud, the adrenaline packed action is very exciting and the relationship between Ryder and Branna is absorbing. These main characters have been on an emotional roller coaster for the last couple of books that we as readers hop on as well, it is so good to finally know what happened. A great book, bring on the next one please!
I have now read all the Slater Brothers books & thoroughly enjoyed them. I really like the way it's written. I can hear the Irish accent as I'm reading. The characters are very strong. The only downside is that the books haven't been proof read very well. A lot of mistakes, but very enjoyable despite this.
This book was perfect. I loved every single second of it. I cried, my heart broke, I laughed and smiled throughout the whole book. I have been dying to read about their story from the very beginning and L.A. Casey did not disappoint. I can't wait for more!!!
