In Smart Work, Dermot Crowley provides a simple, elegant system for improving your personal productivity. He shows you how to use business tools that are already at your disposal (e.g., your mail client) to become more productive , better organised and to have a clearer line of sight on your daily priorities.
Dermot's clear, straightforward writing style makes it easy for anyone to implement the Smart Work approach. The simple steps to get to and maintain a zero inbox are worth the read alone. A highly recommended book for any busy professional!
Having implemented some fundamentals from Smart Work, I find I can let go of more stress - I know now that everything is processed, scheduled, and has a place to get done. My kind is free to stop trying to remember everything! Good practical read.
Smart work: More like ingenious. The clarity from Dermot Crowley on the thinking, actions and specific tasks to help you get sh*t done is so clear, practical and pragmatic... you have this exhale going on, this 'aaaaaahhhhh' when you work through the book and put his ways of working into practice. So many people are 'busy' and 'overwhelmed' and 'drowning' in the challenges of work, but to me they need to get smart and Smart Work does just this. Topics like Delegation, Planning, Technology and Focus were winners for me. But there's this chart he has on Page 71 that was a bit of a, well a BIG game changer: it was about how to manage disruptions. It's all about the mode you're in. My world has changed knowing I have these options - and that is what's smart about this. Now I see it has Bestseller status on it. Even the layout is presented in chunks, readable and digestable in the one hit so you can model the productivity being shared. I'm thankful when I read a book that has great thinking, well articulated and highly practical that I can do something with. 'Aaaaaahhhhh'!
Smart Work is such a well written and helpful book for those who want to streamline their day to day operations. I love the clear model that Dermot works through and which shapes the structure of the book. Since reading the book I have been able to understand my need to develop the mindset and systems to become more outcome oriented. The book challenges your approach to work and then gives you many tips about smart ways to make work more efficient and productive. I attended one of Dermot's workshops recently and have learned his system using Outlook to reduce your inbox to zero each week. In a day when most of us are drowning in emails this has been a lifeline for me. Thank you Dermot Crowley.
So Smart - every page and every chapter has been resonating with just where I need to be to get more productive. Dermot Crowley's book is so accessible; doable and achievable that it has made a big impact on my productivity in a very short time. Just for starters, its been a long time since I've been able to see the bottom of my inbox - its waistline had increased hugely over a couple of unchecked years. Now I'm travelling on Zero Inbox - its amazing how the decluttering how helped not only my workflow but my mindset. Thanks Dermot for Smart Work - it continues to inspire me to better ways of working, and to get out of my own way.
I read this book and then bought it for 3 of my colleagues. I really love how simple Dermot has made it to be productive. So simple and therefore so exciting! This book will give you back an hour a day - amazing.
Excellent book from Dermot on how to get yourself organised. From reducing the number of emails you deal with to being better at actioning priorities, this book is filled with practical tips you can immediately put in place.
