I was thrilled when I found Thorgrim night wolf. There's an awful lot of 'viking' rubbish out there and now James Nelson joins an elite company of only four other authors that I consider to be really well researched, without anachronisms and an excellent tale with well developed characters thrown in. The story is very atmospheric and Thorgrim is an intriguing character, he's not superhuman or with ridiculous extra talents, though an excellent seaman and shipwright, he remains very human. James Nelson has an amazing knowledge of the sea and his viking detail is spot on. Ireland is not the part of the Viking world that I'm most interested in but I'm coming around... Looking forward to many more Thorgrim adventures!
Great writing, totally engaging, I can hardly stop reading. I’m getting up early, I’m going to bed late, I’m not watching Netflix, I can’t wait to see what happens next. I downloaded the next book the series BEFORE I started writing this review so I can keep going.
I am a picky reader. I like to enjoy, learn and, above all, not get bored when I read. This author is ticking all of my boxes.
The story lines twist and turn, you will be shocked, you will cheer, you will laugh.
If you like this kind of stuff, or if you just like a good read I would recommend this series.
