Voldemort has returned and Harry is being left out of the loop. We find Harry hiding under a bush listening into the muggle news - trying to find any trace of Voldemort. From the very beginning we find that Harry has a lot of pent up anger, he's started to become bitter. Bitter about the fact he has to stay with the Dursley's, that no one will tell him anything. Upset that his friends are spending time together without him. But are these really Harry's feelings? Or is he being fueled by his connection with Voldemort? After almost being expelled for prevent the Dementors from taking his cousin's soul - Harry reenters the wizarding world where people are less tolerant of him and his wild stories - however true they may be. Although work load has tripled as the students get ready for their O.W.L.s Harry is finding it harder and harder to care about his studies, who can concentrate when it looks like Voldemort is steadily on the rise and Dumbledore will barely look Harry in the eyes. All Harry knows is he's searching for a weapon - could that weapon be Harry?
Woo Hoo great book. This is a great book for many reasons it's a bit exciting and sad because one of the best characters ever dies.Anyway I will give you a few reasons why this book is so good…1 So funny when Dumbledore turns up and makes the Dursleys look silly.2 When Harry's O.W.L.S turns up and that he passed everything he wanted to pass.3 Harry gets private lessons with Dumbledore and goes into people's memories.4 When Harry gets a lucky potion from his new potions teacher.5 Horcruxs Harry finds one with Dumbledore but return to Hogwarts with the Dark Mark sent over it.6 They start fighting the Death and none of us get killed. There I have given you 6 reasons why to read this book.I recommend this book for ages 8+.(All I'm trying to say it's a good so read it!!!
Looks like this year Harry has mysteriously mastered stewing potions. This bothers Hermione who sets out to find an answer to his lucky find and has her own theory as to the true nature and name of "The Half-Blood Prince."
Harry also has a few emotions stewing that need a little taming; he seems to be a tad upset over Jenny's snogging another student. Things get a tad dicey as it looks like you do not know who to trust as Harry and Dumbledore have a mission.
I think one of the best points in the book is where Dumbledore shows Harry that his fate in the conflict is not because it is written but what he chooses similar to the line from "Julius Creaser" by Shakespeare where Cassius says to Brutus "Men at some time are masters of their fates: The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves..."
This story sometimes has the feel that it is going astray with descriptions; however all things tie together and it is necessary to distract you from the core story so you will forget some details only to be reminded of them later.
This is the sixth book in the proposed series of seven and as with the previous books in the series; you will want to purchase the book and the Jim Dale recording. Also, if you are collecting do not forget to get an adult version.
Before reading this book, it is time to read "The Power of Myth" by Joseph Campbell. On the other hand, if you are visual or auditory there is a film series and a CD version. After this, you will swear that J.K. Rowling must have read this also before writing the book. You will see the mandatory stages a hero must go through including going through rites of passage such as caves before obtaining adulthood.
If we just stopped with this book, it would make a great TV pilot as Harry go on with an endless quest. However, we are promised that all things should wrap-up and many do in this book by the end of the next book.
