First read for this author. I found the book slow to start as you are thrust into a world of neology, however once I warmed to the character and to the new planet so beautifully described I was hooked. I shed a few tears for the angst in the end.
Another win for Audrey Faye. I have been a fan of all of her previous series and this one is turning out to be another winner. I loved the characters and am looking forward to them developing as the series expands. This book, although a completely different genre, has all the depth and wonderful people that you expect from an Audrey Faye book. I found that every time I had to put it down, (I guess my boss does expect me to do some work), that I couldn't wait to get back to it. I even sat in the car after leaving work so that I could finish the book before going home. Looking forward to the next one.
This is a great read - what talent Audrey has to be able to switch genres as easily as she does. I love reading her books - the story lines are different and the characters well defined. Even though this book is 'sci fi', don't let that stop you reading it, as includes all the elements Audrey usually puts into her writing - relationships, personal growth, something different, and friendship. And what fantastic covers - I am really looking forward to the rest of the series.
One of Audrey Faye's greatest talents is in creating characters that seem very real and the start of this series doesn't disapoint. Kish is a well developed character and I look forward to seeing what happens next.
