To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Despite all of the negative reviews that you may read (I may have hit the panel lottery) there has been not one issue with my panel.
PROS: 3440x1440 is a game changing experience and completely immersive 100Hz OC with no issues Crosshair Function is hilariously cheating (Please use this function with caution) In-monitor speakers are actually quite nice if you do not have a headset Extra screen real estate is fantastic for both gaming and productivity Stand is built with quality and will not budge if you bump into the panel itself
CONS: Not all games supported in 3440x1440 (did not doc stars as this is not a panel issue) OSD is difficult to get used too Extremely pricey (If you're seriously reading this review then you already are aware of this)
I was debating on 4K however, with the price of 4K and the horse power you need to run perfect frames does not make sense at all right now. I highly recommend upgrading to Ultrawide 3440x1440, I promise you wont be disappointed!
Edit (June 25, 2018) - I am now on year 2.5 with this beast and still have not run into any issues at all. Very pleased and I hope everyone that has purchased this is experiencing the same feelings.
Although my unit only goes up to 95 Hz and I was able to confirm that this indeed not the x34a revised model, it would be completely unjustified to give this monitor anything less than 5 stars. Taking advantage of G Sync at 95 Hz looks absolutely smooth as butter on a 1070, despite some titles such as BF1 only managing 60-70fps on ultra. I did certainly consider returning this monitor in hopes of obtaining the revised x34a model, but I was unable to find that model anywhere in Canada. Overall, I am highly satisfied with this product. Also, keep in mind that the built-in speakers are quite weak so you will need to use alternate audio peripherals.
Good Lord, this thing is magnificent. I was a bit skeptical on the price, but having G-sync at 1440p is worth every penny.
I absolutely love the subdued design of the monitor. From the back it looks very unassuming and other than the Predator logo on the front, it really doesnt look like a gaming monitor. But holy Jesus, gaming on it is amazing.
I cant say enough about the jump from 1080-1440p especially in a 34" monitor. I doubt it would be as noticeable on a smaller monitor, but on this unit, every pixel shines. Most games support the 3440-1440p resolution, so I never feel like I am wasting real estate on screen. G-sync will even work in windowed mode, if thats your thing.
Having the extra width on the screen is a real show-stopper. Playing anything from Wolfenstein to Xcom, to GTA V, that extra 3" on each side of the screen really makes me wonder how I lived without it. GTA V in particular is amazing. I love how I can see intersections so much easier, and flying around gives you a wonderful sense of scale.
Maybe you dont want to spend $1300-$1500 on a monitor, which is fine. But if you are a gaming enthusiast with more money than common sense, this is possibly the best upgrade you can do for your setup.
The monitor is everything I wanted with it's refresh rate and size BUT the monitor went black in the middle of gaming and the power LED was still on. No sound and no picture but the power button wouldn't respond, I had to unplug and plug back in for it to reset and work again. This happened 4 times in a week before it finally stopped resetting and was just dead. I didn't spend this much money for this type of quality.
The RMA went well though and we'll see if their replacment of the G-sync board lasts. The premium price does have the added benefit of premium service with paid shipping both ways. I recommend saving the box because it's comepletly assembled! You'll have a tough time packing it for an RMA otherwise.
Best monitor I've ever owned. Been keeping my eye on the price of this thing since it's release and finally caved and it is worth every penny. Gaming is an addiction for me and this has been blowing me away every time I use it.
I just went from a 24 inch monitor I bought about 10 years ago to this beast! Boy, this monitor is awesome... maybe a little pricey, but it really worths every penny. The only little con I can think of is that there's a little light bleeding in the lower left corner, but in the end, I really can't notice it when playing games or using any other apps. Noticed that it is paired with a I5 4690k, 16gb of ddr3 ram and a Zotac gtx1080 Amp extreme card... And every games run buttery smooth at ultra settings... Couldn't be happier!
Bought mine from Amazon Warehouse. Got it for only 750 and it did not have any imperfections mentioned by the warehouse. Mine flickered when running games for some reason but it was due to Gsync and not the monitor. Hopefully, the monitor will function well for years to come.
