Try Not to Breathe is a well-written psychological thriller that grasped my attention throughout.
Two women are brought together in unusual circumstances. Amy, a young victim of violence in a vegetative state and Alex, a divorced, unhappy, alcoholic journalist interested in writing about people in Amy's circumstance. Alex starts her investigation of Amy's case and the psychological ride begins
The plot is well-thought-out and the character development is solid. The pace is appropriate and Holly creates strong imagery through her rich descriptions and details, most of the time. My only criticism is there are ocassionally odd details included in the narrative that don't add to the story, but rather, they derail your focus.
The story is told in a back and forth way between these two characters and through a time period between 1995 and 2010. The book has been a bestselling novel for some time, so it's definitely worth a read.
