Kate and Finn share a lot of memories. Most are good, but the one Kate would rather forget is when Finn broke up with her because he got another woman pregnant. Finn is presently divorced and raising his twins on his own. One day he is served papers to appear in court. His ex-wife wants custody of the children and plans on leaving the country. When Finn finds out the judge values families, Finn fears he will lose his kids. He needs to find a wife to create that picture perfect family so the judge will let him keep his kids. Kate decides to be Finn’s stand in wife until after the court date. Will Kate and Finn be able to pull this off? Or will Kate quickly end the relationship like she is known to do?
This heartfelt story is proof that second chances can happen if you work hard enough for them. A definite must read book.
This book is warm and complex and filled with love and hope and mistakes and second chances and so much more. Barbara Anstrum has written a simply gorgeous love story in Choose Me Cowboy. Kate Canaday is bright, intelligent, loyal, and filled with self doubt when it comes to her relationships with men. She met and fell in love with Finn Scott at college but ran from that relationship when she felt herself getting serious. When Finn had a brief fling with another woman who subsequently got pregnant and whom he married as a result, Kate convinced herself she hated Finn. Six years later they meet again. Finn's been divorced for four years and is raising his five year-old twins as a single father. Kate finds herself falling in love not just with Finn but also with the children but first she has to overcome doubts about her ability to make things work. Finn is gorgeous. I could use a Finn in my life though my husband might object. Finn is a former rodeo bull rider who has signed up to do two final rides to secure the money he needs to rebuild the run-down ranch he has inherited. At the same time he is raising his two children whom he clearly adores. Add his cowboy god looks and you have the perfect package. He's never stopped loving Kate though he has an uphill battle both to prove it to her and to convince her to give their relationship a chance. This book is filled with bittersweet moments, yet there is humour as well and a hefty dose of love, both the romantic kind and the kind that families have for their own. Barbara Ankrum is so good at creating images and making the reader feel like she is just watching the story unfold through a window! Her writing flows effortlessly across the page and it is as though you are feeling what Kate and Finn are feeling. I loved this book. It's a keeper!
This was a rollercoaster of a story. Kate and Finn dated in college, but spent the past six years apart because of one night where he made a mistake, which resulted in a pregnancy and his twins. So he married the other woman. Now, he is back in Marietta, divorced and a single dad, and runs into Kate again. I had a little trouble with Kate as a character. I really enjoyed the story, but she had so little self esteem it was kind of sad. Although, that did add a lot to the plot as well. If she had a stronger personality they wouldn't have been in the predicament they were in. I loved how she was with his children though, she really has a good heart. Finn was a great character as well, and was wonderful with his children. I felt like he could've done more to make up for his bad choices in the past, but all in all the story came together well. This was a very enjoyable read for me, and a wonderful conclusion to the 2015 rodeo series.
