A DARK AND SHADED STORY, BUT BEAUTIFUL, TOO.
30 December 2015
A captivating, but sometimes brutal narrative, that had me in it's grip from the moment I began reading. The brutality centred around the setting and lives of the characters, rather than being a graffically violent book. Essentially, it's a love story.
The writing standard was exceptional, the text was generous and the pace was appropriate to the needs of each scene. The storyline flowed and the descriptive passages created imagery that allowed readers to travel the journey with all the characters (Juliette and Killian, in particular.) The 'voice' of the two lead characters, mainly Juliette, granted us insight into their feelings, actions and backstories, making it easy for readers to connect. At times, the plot finds you wondering, what next? Or, how will this all end up? There was also plenty of light and shade, so it wasn't completely serious and angsty all the time, in fact there are parts that are very sweet. Oh, and it's very, very seductive.
I read Forever His Baby some time ago, and liked it. This one is much, much better, so I wouldn't hesitate downloading another of Airicka's ebooks. As an avid reader, I often have two or three books on the go at the same time to hold my interest. However, with Transcending, there wasn't a moment that didn't hold my focus or gave me a feeling that I had to push through to the end. Congratulations, Airicka on this fantastic narrative.
***Just an aside: as I read Transcending, I wondered about the poor henchmen; do they get enough sleep..when do they socialize..do they have a decent health care plan? :) However, Juliette had it covered.***
