I am so glad I persisted with this! I nearly gave up because the opening was a little too quirky for my usual liking and it took a little too long for the pieces to fall in to place and for me to realise what was going on. However, I flicked through to a chapter further in and was hooked - once she gets to India it is absolutely charming. So I went back and read the beginning again. The Indian family is so adorable. Tabby remained annoying but if you stick with it you find out what is behind it and she is really a sweetie. I actually did laugh out loud at times. Still not sure if I believe the romantic attachments that develop between certain characters, but hey ... it's romance not reality and that's the charm isn't it?
I agree with the top review here - I'm glad I persisted with this book. It took me a while to match with the author's rhythm, but it was an enjoyable book in the end, and much more engaging towards the middle/end of the story.
