I wonder if the German survivors of 6 June 1944, who were interviewed in 1954, retained the same views of Germany's position in bringing about WW2, when they died as civilians years after the D Day landings? The book shows how effective propaganda was on its military personnel in pushing the view that Germany was protecting France and a "United Europe", that the western allies were not the true enemy, but that the Russians were. By extrapolation all peoples should question their own governments' justification (propaganda?) for armed conflict with another nation. The last recounting presents a side-stepping of an examination of the types of experiments conducted to perfect a weapon and a massive "what if..." scenario.
