Rollercoaster of emotions ... hilarious 😂

I've heard only heard great things about Mhairi McFarlane's writing, but I've not actually read any of her work before. I can see why she is so popular as she has an incredible ability to sum up the minutiae of life in a simple sentence coupled with that she has a wicked sense of humour.
This is an enjoyable and easy read which follows Edie’s life in the aftermath of a moment of madness at a colleague’s wedding. Her life unravels fast as the devastating results of victimisation through social media begin to take effect, resulting in massive consequences on her career and her social life, not to mention her self-esteem but Edie is such a great character that you feel her highs and lows and enjoy the rollercoaster ride she takes the reader on. She has a very dry sense of humour, is very honest and completely likable. Her realism drew me to her and had me rooting for her from the beginning. Although Edie’s life has completely been upended there are things that work out for the better such as she's back with her family which is a great source of laughs throughout because her sister is slightly wacky to say the least… She’s also reunited with her best friends and as you learn more about Edie you learn what she’s been through and how her life has taken shape. My only criticism was the sheer quantity of one-liners was a little overwhelming at times. Although these were generally very witty there were so many of them that it felt a little contrived by the end. That being said I struggled to put this book down. Mhairi’s writing is fresh and has attitude and spark. If you’re looking for your next romantic comedy, look no further. 4.5 stars from me.
