Susan Hatler never disappoints with this delightful series of romances. In this one, Melinda is at a cross roads. She has been made redundant from her job and is almost broke. While visiting her favourite bakery, she discovers that the owner's son, Nate has returned home after years away. Nate and Melinda were first kisses and first love to each other, but Nate moved away and Melinda carried on without him. But, Nate has done with his global adventures and wants nothing more than to reconnect with Melinda. Melinda's mother drops a bombshell when she reveals letters that were written by her dad, encouraging Melinda to carry out a "Carpe Diem List", to follow her dreams, after which she can have access to estate money. With support from Nate, and some new found friends, Melinda might just be able to achieve her own HEA.
This was so cute and mischievously humorous, with a nice bit of heart too. Melinda and her mother are both in the life doldrums, having difficulty moving on after the freak accident death of their dad/husband. But dear old dad comes to the rescue from beyond the grave and kicks them both back into living life again. Melinda's childhood friend (and secret crush) Nate is more than happy to help out with that. He was gorgeous, she was cute, finding her true self again. rediscovering friendship and luuurve. It's a light read but with enough little tweaks of emotion to keep me happy. Deliciously romantic in the best sense, the start of something special for Nate and Melinda.
