I guess the author has thoroughly researched her topic, but it seemed to me that the book belonged to a different time, maybe 10 or more years earlier.
Somewhat unbelievable, with Simpson turning up out of nowhere, right on cue.. And how did Betty know not to read out the rest of Alma's letter if she hadn't already read it.. Winnie and Alma are made out to speak with a particular accent/ choice of language, e.g. " gonna", yet their written language and grammar are surprisingly impeccable in the letters quoted.
I found it all a bit unbelievable, and the author obviously is pushing the concept as much as she can, with several series of books around this topic. Nothing I read in this story would encourage me to read anything else she has written.
