This is book one about the adorable Boudreaux family. Each is a stand alone love story, with steamy adult content. Company CEO, Eli runs Bayou Industries with his siblings. He is always busy and consumed by work. His relationships with women are brief and emotionless hook ups. Recently money has been going missing and his sister recommends old school friend, Kate for the job of investigator, but warns Eli not to get entangled with her. Delicately beautiful divorcee,Kate, has moved from Denver to work for New Orleans company Bayou Industries, undercover. She is immediately swept off her feet by the debonair, sexy boss, Eli. And Eli can't stop thinking about Kate, so engineers any number of excuses to stay close to her. Kate's job has an expiry date and Eli knows it, but as time passes, he gets himself into an emotional mess trying to deny his feelings. Meanwhile, Kate who escaped a painful marriage, wants to avoid more pain, though finds she is in love despite herself. Can these two sort it out before anyone gets more hurt?
I haven't read a Kristen Proby book in a while and I thought I'd get back in to her works by reading the first in the Boudreaux series - Easy Love. I liked the book, it was a quick read and Kristen moved straight into the storyline. The two main characters Kate and Eli felt an immediate connection with each other from the moment they met. Eli was a co CEO of the family business in New Orleans. He was 100% dedicated to the company and loyal to his family. He only had time for sex, not relationships, and had a reputation for being a manwhore. He was also broody, brusque, protective and predatory and when he made his mind up, he acted! Sweet Kate was Eli's sister's bbf and she was brought in as a faux employee, but she was actually an experienced and successful troubleshooter for businesses like the Boudreaux's, who needed some undercover work done, in order to identify a thief (although this subplot was sidelined a little too often). Both Kate and Eli were strong, but fallible characters with backstories that added another level of interest. The plot was entertaining and sexy without going too deep and the same goes with the characters. Kristen writes nicely for this genre and in Easy Love, she focused on several scenes that were develop well, and she was economical in her writing with other scenes (this seems to be her MO with all her books I've read so far). The conclusion was good and just when you think the story is winding up, there's a little more. The Boudreaux family, extended family and friends will obviously feature in the ongoing series (not a serial, thankfully) and based on this book, I'll download the others to enjoy.
This author is able to write a good romance series linking family members into each tale. While it can be read as a standalone sometimes it's best to experience the whole deal.
Kate has left a bad marriage & Eli is a total manwhore but their chemistry & connection is off the charts. They deem it to be a brief fling, while she is trying to investigate some embezzling in his Co. Eli is the typical workaholic but let's just say the embezzlement plays a rather minor role in this story.
I loved the characters it's just one of those warm & fuzzy family tales with a touch of hotness.
An amazing start to Boudreaux Series. Loved every second of it.
Eli is co-CEO of his family's company. He eats, sleeps and lives for his work. That is until Kate comes in. Kate has been hired by Elis' company to find the person who has been stealing from them. The sparks fly when they meet and Eli decides he wants if only until the job she was hired to do is done. What they didn't expect was fall for each other...
You learn a little about each of Elis' six siblings. Which will have you dying to know more about them.
Everything about this book was amazing. I have a feeling I'm going to love it even than the With Me In Seattle series. Can't not wait for who ever is next.
Well, I’m not going to lie to you I had HUGE expectations for this book, coming off the back of the “With Me” series and let me just say Kristen Proby has knocked it out of the ballpark with this smooth easy love story and one that has me knowing I a, going to fall in love with this series as much as I did with the Seattle series.
You won’t be disappointed at all with this purchase.
This was my first book by Kristen Proby, and I have moved on to read the rest of the series, which is a sign of how much I enjoyed this book. The characters were very normal, she managed to create conflict and carry the story forward without resorting to over-the-top clichéd external forces.
My only complaint is the poor grasp of timelines by the author - I am assuming these books have not been professionally edited otherwise the enormous errors of these would have been fixed. While I loved the storyline and overall the writing style, I found these gaps very distracting (eg heroine agrees to a drink after work on a Friday, gets called to an emergency, next character says heroine has been "hassling the hospital staff all day", heroine goes home from hospital and then is having to go to work because its Monday??? What exactly happened to Saturday and Sunday? Time leaps happen, but it didn't get addressed properly and happened a number of times.) But while this did bother me, it didn't ruin the rest of the story and the wonderfully constructed characters.
I loved this book. The characters were engaging and well written and developed. The author is a favourite of mine and I was not disappointed with this book and I definitely look forward to reading more in this series.
I was wrapped in this book. A story about a guy whose company was being robbed internally. A girl who was brought in to find out who was doing the fleecing. The family she was welcomed in and the romance that was started.
Great book, loved everything about it. Story was engaging, the characters were well thought out and the writing was fantastic. If you like an epic family saga/ series with a wealthy and influential family at the centre then this one's for you! All books can be read as standalones
