I love stories based in the the Regency-ish era of England. A good author will twist emotions with humour and resolve a few minor problems along the way to a happy ever after. I can say that this story is not quite like that. There are no balls to attend, no afternoon teas to enjoy gossip, but there is a happy ever after. This is a rather challenging story, very different from the norm, which makes it so much better to read and enjoy. I loved the characters and feel that I was in the story with them: surely that is the secret of a very good author, to make the reader feel so involved with the storyline. I cannot recommend this book enough, one of my very favourite books.
